Ujjayi in the Mountains

Susan Zagorski, RYT, began her yoga practice 12 years ago when she lived in Chicago. She has been teaching Ashtanga yoga in Bisbee for six years to a diverse group of students who enjoy Ashtanga's challenges and secrets! Susan brings the wisdom, ease and humor of her former inspiring teachers into her own classes. Such influential instructors include: Nancy Lanoue- her karate teacher for 10 years,  Matt Sweigart- teacher of shiatsu bodywork and Ashtanga teachers Daren Friesen and Tom Quinn. Susan's latest yoga challenge is reading Rudolf Steiner's book 'How to Know Higher Worlds', which was written in the early 1900's. She feels it is a contemporary version of the ancient Yoga Sutras, perhaps more accessible, though still challenging to grasp the inner secrets!

Ujjayi in the Mountains

Saturday, February 14th   11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Meet at the Club Kilimanjahro Studio

The essence of Ashtanga yoga practice is that it stimulates your breathing.

The vigorous, smooth-flowing sequence of asanas is co-ordinated with the sound of the breath, UJJAYI, the ocean-sounding, victory breath. Listening to yourself breathe is a tool you can utilize anywhere, at any time in your Life. It has a natural calming affect to he mind and body.

In this 'class' we will emphasize mindful listening of the Ujjayi breathing technique on a HIKE in the mountains surrounding Bisbee. The walk will culminate at a wind-swept clearing. Here we will join to practice some standing postures and the Ujjayi breath ceremonially with the earth and sky.

No mat required. Sturdy walking shoes requested. Bring your own water. The HIKE time is synchronized with the schedule of the Bisbee Yoga Expo; one hour and half. Class size is limited. Physically fit students who are able to walk and breathe with ease at an elevation of 5,300 feet only. Meet in the upstairs studio of the Club Kilimanjahro to commence.

" The expo was fabulous! How exciting to have all those people there.  I enjoyed being in other teachers' classes- we all have such different views  of  yoga that we emphasize."
