Ashtanga Asana, the Base of the Mountain
Saturday, February 13th
11:45 am - 1:15 pm
Club Kilimanjahro Ballroom
In this asana class we will focus on the Primary Series as learned from Sri K. Pattahbhi Jois in Mysore, India. Through exploration of posture (Asana), breathing (Ujai pranayama) and Bandas (harnessing core strength) we will lay the foundation for the tremendous grounding potential of yoga practice. With each vinyasa, we will return to the feet, the Base of the Mountain. Once grounded at the base, the aspirant can then ascend safely and steadily towards the summit, where one can see with clarity and lightness. Ashtanga yoga is known for its well-rounded approach with equal emphasis on strength and flexibility. Through performing the same asana practice daily, the mind and body become firm yet light, while the life force (Prana) is increased.
