One
evening in 1969 (Queens, NY),
Marcia Galleher's mother went to
observe a yoga class. Upon her
return she commented, "It wasn't
for me, but you might like it."
Marcia was 15 years old and
attended that session the
following week. The room was
dark and lit with candles. The
male instructor was East Indian
accompanied by two female
assistants. After practicing the
postures for the first time,
Marcia fell asleep in
savasana. The sense of
peace and deep relaxation she
experienced during that initial
class prompted her journey of
yoga.
Marcia has been teaching
consistently since 1993.
Presently she offers three classes a week in Bisbee at the
Club Kilimanjahro. Her
instruction is rooted in the
traditional wisdom of such
inspirations as
Swami Satchidananda, Sri Chinmoy,
Amrit Desai, Ram Dass, Lilias
Folan, Erich Schiffmann, Amy Weintraub and her
husband, John, a jnana yogi.
Marcia is the producer of three
audio yoga tapes, 'Volume I for
Beginner's Level', 'Volume II
for Continuing
Students' and her most recent CD, 'ReUnion'.
