Tarot Journey of the Hero/Heroine through Asana
The Art of Releasing into Bliss
Laura Brown grew up in the UK, moving to the United States in 1990. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Traveling has led her to pursue yoga in a very universal approach. She has been practicing yoga for 14 years and attended her first class in kundalini yoga when 18 years old.
Laura completed the 200hr RYT training through the Living Yoga Program. The instruction in Yoga Nidra, Restorative Flow, Qi Qong, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Raja yoga, Zen meditation, Hindu temple services, studies in Hinduism, Pranayama and chakra studies, along with other uncounted resources and expertises, have all influenced Laura's yogic path of practice and instruction.
Her most recent 80 hours of training included work in Pralaya Yoga with Robert Boustani, also Kriya yoga, Iyengar, Anusara yoga, Yin Yoga, Thai Massage, partner yoga, Scaravelli yoga, anatomy and the yoga of myofacial release, Restorative Flow yoga, and classes in Erich Schiffman's signature style. Laura also studied yoga for back care and scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller and various therapeutic Iyengar approaches to asana. This year she is embarking on studies with Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten, Richard Rosen and Tias Little. Laura blends sacred body language and archetypal human issues into her yoga classes, based on her educational degrees in multi-ethnic literatures, anthropology, history and 14 years of experience in the study of the Tarot.
Laura's classes are a blend of many different yoga styles, philosophies and practices. Her classes give students the opportunity to stretch, yes, but more importantly they are provided with valuable time to listen to their bodies, feel their emotions and acknowldege breath/spirit. By doing this they are making room for incredible transformations to occur, not only in themselves, but in the people and beings they interact with.
Laura Brown is the director of the Annual Flagstaff Yoga Festival.
