Joanna Carichner would like to thank her many teachers for their dedication to healing and expression.  Over the last 25 years, she has been blessed to study acting, singing, clowning, dancing, sign language, holistic bodywork and yoga and meditation.  During her 5-month stay at Kripalu, she was delighted to find Kripalu Danskinetics and JourneyDance, both flowing, expressive co-minglings of dance and yoga. In 2007, Joanna was honored to study with Toni Bergins, the founder of JourneyDance. Since that time, she has been leading students in this spiritual exploration of embodyment, awakening, release and full-body prayer. JourneyDance gives Joanna the perfect combination of her favorite aspects of life: dance, yoga, theatre, creative visualization, and ritual.  Joanna believes yoga and dance can be enjoyed by people of all shapes, sizes, and abilities.  Her passion is empowering her students to embody their natural expression and create their practices through inner experience rather than outward aesthetics. She is a holistic bodyworker, teaches yoga at Tucson Yoga and is the Studio Director.  joanna@joannacarichner.com

JourneyDance™ is a playful and intuitive method of using movement to discover and celebrate our inner strengths. We are all dancers, emotion in motion. We cleanse our bodies and minds with sweat and breath, laughter and prayer. We discover the anatomy of the soul. We feel our power and aliveness. We learn to love ourselves. We find balance and blessings. We become bright, shining, radiant.

Impulsed by music, using elements of theater, visualization, vocalization, guided sequences, and improvisational movement, we awaken our imaginations. We embark on a journey to fully express ourselves as soul. At the journey's end we return home, embodied and whole.
