Gayatri Mantra and Mudras
Saturday, February 14th 4:15 pm- 5:45 pm Howell Avenue Annex
The Gayatri Mantra is the mother of all mantras. Given to Vishvamitra by Vasistha, Vishvamitra was transported through the seven realms to enlightenment. Therefore, chanting the full Gayatri is a journey to wholeness in and of itself. In our class will explore the Gayatri Mantra from many dimensions. There will be chanting accommpanied by the harmonium, story telling of the Gayatri's origin, practicing the thirty two Gayatri mudras and a simple asana flow will be integrated with chanting the Gayatri Mantra.
Om Bhuh, Om Bhuvaha, Ogm Suvaha
Om Mahaha, Om Janaha, Om Tapaha, Ogm Satyam
Om tat savitur varenyam

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat
Om apo jyoti raso amrtam brahma bhurbhuvassuvarom

Building Asana from the Inside Out
Sunday, February 15th 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Club Kilimanjahro Ballroom
Come willing to explore asana from the inside out! In this class we are going to explore the integration of the expansive world of yoga by blending asana, sanskrit and marma points. We will be exploring the names of the asana through prana flow based on the linking of the marma (ayurvedic energy centers). You will receive a handout on the basic 107 marma points (ayurvedic energy centers) in the body. The information will include the bija sound of each marma. We will take the name of a yoga posture and build the asana based on the Sanskrit name guiding us from marma point to marma point. Holding the asana, we will personally explore the feeling of pranic movement as we chant the sanskrit name and allow it to unfold within. Building the asana with the sanskrit /marma relationship allows us to fine tune our alignment and feel the inner connections inside out! Come and explore this new dimension of an asana experience.
