Halli Bourne (Bernalillo, New Mexico)
Pranayama, Meditation & Yoga Nidra:
Gateway To the True Self
Through the seeming tragedy of a near-fatal car accident, Halli Bourne found her way to healing and self-awareness through the practice of Yoga. As a teacher of asana and meditation, she leads students to self-exploration through the power of the breath. As a practitioner for nearly 20 years, Halli brings great enthusiasm, experiential knowledge and a sense of lightness to all of her classes. She is a 500-hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher, an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) through Yoga Alliance, a spiritual life coach, a craniosacral therapist, a (retired) licensed massage therapist, and a certified Yoga Trance Dance instructor.
Halli also holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts. www.deeprootsyoga.com

"Yoga pose is mastered by relaxation of effort, lessening the tendency for restless breathing, and promoting an identification of oneself as living within the breath of life."
Yoga Sutras ~ Patanjali
Pranayama, one of the eight limbs of the Raja Yoga practice, offers a powerful means towards directing and managing life force (prana) in addition to laying a foundation for awakening. Pranayama removes numbness from the body by cleansing blocks in the system, providing a natural preparation for meditation.
Meditation, another of the eight limbs, leads the student into a one-pointed focus from which the True Self can arise. Through training the mind away from its vacillations, the student can pull aside the veils that conceal the deeper reality of who we truly are. Meditation invites the student to turn an outward focus of "doing" to an inward focus of "being".
Yoga Nidra, or "yogic sleep", invites true relaxation in every system of the body, while refining the practitioner emotionally and spiritually. Yoga Nidra encourages relaxed alertness, calm, centeredness, and presence, integrating the fragmented psyche. Liberation from stress and pain are natural outcomes of the practice of Yoga Nidra.
This class explores the link between the breath, meditation, and conscious relaxation to help the student feel more fully alive.
