The Bodhisattva takes what s/he learns from practice and seeks to apply it to all our relations. The cultivation of Big Sky Mind, firmly rooted in the Earth itself, integrates form and emptiness, wisdom and compassion. The Zen traditions all tell us that enlightenment is not merely the state of reaching the top of the mountain; we must come down and live in the marketplace, renewed by what we see there. As the Korean Zen Master Chinul said, "It is not enough to be enlightened; we must live an enlightened life."
Join Poep Sa Frank Jude for a practice dedicated to the cultivation of Big Sky Mind, and the lived heart of compassion. Through asana, meditation, and dharma discussion, we can touch the luminous, boundless nature of the awakened heart for the sake of all beings.
BODY OF PEACE: The Dharma Gate of Ease and Joy

Everyone who explores the stillness of meditation must deeply enter the experience of the body. Only by becoming intimate with the physical body can we free ourselves from identification with the body as "self" and access the profound peace that yogis like Patanjali and the Buddha assert is our true nature. Yet, how do we experience such a deep peace when our bodies are so often filled with tension, pain and even self-deprecation?
This Mindfulness Yoga workshop will provide the opportunity to explore the three principles of alignment, relaxation, and resiliency necessary for sitting meditation, hatha-yoga, and for living a life of freedom and authenticity. Applying the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness and conscious breathing to the movements and postures of hatha-yoga, these three principles that together support the seat of meditation, creating the ease and stability Patanjali defined as asana, allow for the deep and intimate integration of body, mind and spirit.
Practicing asanas designed to open stiff hips, strengthen sore backs, and relax tense shoulders and necks, we can develop insight into our conditioning and cultivate equanimity. In this way, we enter into the stillness at the heart of movement and experience the energy that moves in the stillness of meditation.
